This position is with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company—the second-largest U.S. tobacco company. The company's brands include Newport, Camel and Pall Mall.

The Senior Technician will perform routine and complex assignments to support the Cigarette Product Development group within R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. The position requires collaboration with department management, project leaders and cross functionally with members of other R&D functional areas. With moderate guidance, he or she must be capable of performing routine tasks using existing systems and assist with the execution of project plans. The individual must be able to perform in a highly diverse, multi-functional environment and communicate effectively to deliver against goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform technical assignments such as laboratory submissions and data summarization to support departmental project initiatives

  • Support product developers by writing development tests, assisting with sample production and completing required documentation

  • Perform project management tasks in support of current and future strategies

  • Complete assignments in a timely manner with skill and accuracy to support a variety of initiatives and deadlines

  • Prioritize work assignments in alignment with business needs

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to learn new computer systems and software

  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills

  • The individual must possess strong project management and technical competence with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic and results driven

  • Self-motivated and works with a sense of urgency

EDUCATION:

  • Four year degree in science/technical or business fields is strongly preferred

  • Four year degree with relevant work experience

  • Associate degree in science/technical or business fields with relevant work experience

ALSO CONSIDERED:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the tobacco industry and/or other FDA regulated industry

  • Candidates with demonstrated proficiency using systems software and progressive project management experience
