SENIORITY LEVEL: Experienced Non-Management Level

FUNCTION: Research and Development

LOCATION: Owensboro, KY


What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?

This position designs and executes projects to support KBio strategic initiatives. The Scientist role collaborates within their sub-function as well as cross-functionally on project assignments, establishing relationships and building technical knowledge. This position utilizes creativity and technical knowledge to develop and implement improved and/or new innovative products within platforms. This individual will display a passion for winning, maintain high scientific standards and integrity, while adhering to all applicable regulations and procedures.

Reports to: Sr Manager QC

Core Relationships: InternalManufacturing, Quality Assurance, Plant Growth and Facilities

Geographic Scope: Local


  • Understands Company and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) strategies and ensures alignment of workstreams with strategic plan.

  • Applies technical/professional principles, theories, and concepts and interprets results in the quality system

  • Identifies, develops, and implements new technologies, processes, and associated systems

  • Designs and leads projects and collaborates on project activities with cross-functional areas; prepares and presents reports to management on these projects or other subjects within expertise.

  • Continues to broaden knowledge base and add value to project workstreams.

  • Interacts with technical groups, functional business partners, suppliers, professional organizations, academia, consultants, etc. to conduct project initiatives.

  • Execute QC assay protocols across raw materials, in-process products, final products, and stability.

  • Perform QC assay protocols for environmental and water monitoring

  • Implements new/improved standards, methods, and procedures (e.g., assays) for inspecting, testing, and evaluating precision, accuracy, efficiency, and reliability / stability of products.

  • Generates and compiles data and documents results of testing procedures, provides evidence-driven recommendations on how to improve existing processes to program leader.

  • Helps revise SOPs and update method procedures and checklists.


  • Do you have experience with quality control (in pharma)?

  • Do you have experience with environmental or water monitoring?

  • Do you have experience with method qualification/validation?


Experience Required

  • Technical knowledge and expertise in applicable area(s) (i.e pharmaceutical quantitative and qualitative analysis).

  • 1-5 years of previous experience in Quality Control

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

  • Project management skills, including prioritizing and managing assignments to ensure activities are aligned with project timeline.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • 4-year undergraduate degree or 3 years relevant experience


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, preferably analytical chemistry

  • Hands-on experience with modern analytical instrumentation
