The Manager of Population Health Outcomes and Engagementwill contribute to building an exciting new strategy and program as part of a newly created Scientific and Public Health Affairs function,with the aim of advancing Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR) in the USA. The primary responsibilities of this role are to help develop and manage a program focused on health outcomes research and engagement. You will analyse and interpret data related to population health, health disparities, health economics, social determinants of health and other factors that contribute to inequities and differences across a variety of diverse population subsets. This role is critical to understanding public health data, trends, health outcomes and differences across various diverse populations, in support of THR. You will use this information for the development of stakeholder specific education, potential solutions, engagement, and strategy focused on THR and reduced risk products. You will establish relationships and work with multiple functions internally and must be comfortable in a matrixed organization. You will maintain high scientific standards and integrity, while adhering to all applicable regulations and procedures. WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Lead public health outcomes research and engagement that utilizes adult public health monitoring data and published research in support of our strategy focused on a future smokeless world and tobacco harm reduction.

  • Use a variety of existing US population/public health research and available datasets to analyse and understand health disparities, health economics, social determinants of health and other factors that contribute to health inequities and differences in health outcomes among diverse adult populations.

  • Analyse, interpret and educate using existing health outcomes data/research as well as new insights on public health issues, trends, health outcomes and factors that impact differences across various diverse populations related to THR.

  • Identify appropriate venues for dissemination and engagement opportunities related to these data among relevant stakeholder groups that include healthcare/medical professionals, scientific and public health communities.

  • Develop presentations and education materials in collaboration with immediate and extended teams across functional groups.

  • Engage with key public health stakeholders on evidence-based positions related to public health outcomes and health policy in the context of THR.

  • Serve as the primary contact for specific stakeholder communities and manage certain external partners and third-party vendors.

  • Manage budget spend specific to the position’s responsibilities and, with effective management of relevant external vendors.

  • Establish cross-functional partnerships internally by liaising withGlobal Life Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Legal and External Affairs, and other relevant functions.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • PhD in public health, health sciences and/or allied health sciences, health economics or other relevant disciplines with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in an academic institution, public health organization, relevant NGO or regulated industry. Or an M.S. in similar fields with 5-7 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience working with US public health monitoring survey datasets and, with the ability to synthesize complex technical/ medical/ science into concise, effective, and impactful communications.

  • Strong engagement, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to interface with multiple functions.

  • Self-starter with experience influencing effectively, excellent project management skills, and with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills, with the ability to interface with multiple levels internally and externally.

  • Experience working with and managing third party strategic and tactical vendors specific to this sub-function.

  • Knowledge of tobacco harm reduction research and nicotine science is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and manage and execute multiple projects often under time constraints.
