WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN ANALYTICAL CHEMIST

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Utilize scientific expertise to perform analytical testing to support new product development.

  • Collaborate with other scientists and product developers regarding research projects to focus on bold, new consumer driven initiatives.

  • Provide QA/QC support to Operations in a timely manner.

  • Effectively communicate with clients to ensure testing is appropriate to meet business needs and results are understood.

  • Support the development of tobacco products and beyond nicotine products consistent with RJR’s Growth, Innovation and Harm Reduction Platforms.

  • Work on established tobacco and beyond nicotine research programs and projects requiring creative thinking, independent research and interaction with R&D scientists, Product Development, Operations, external academic collaborators, and research contractors.

  • Material testing/characterization utilizing Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis (TGA, DSC thermal conductivity) and/or scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectrometry.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor's degree or Advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.S. preferably in analytical chemistry).

  • Excellent project management and teamwork skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and compliance.

  • Strong background in materials testing/characterization utilizing Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis (TGA, DSC thermal conductivity) and/or scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectrometry is highly desired.

  • Operational background in chromatography is a strong plus.

  • Experience with X-ray flurescence spectroscopy and broad ion beam milling is a plus.

BENEFICIAL

  • Experience with spectroscopy systems hardware and software.

  • Experience with chromatography systems hardware and software is a plus.

SALARY AND BENEFITS OVERVIEW

Wage Information

  • Annual Salary: Minimum: $77,700; Maximum: $104,000.

  • Bonus Target: 10% percent
