This position is within Reynolds American Services Company—a subsidiary that provides support services, including compliance, HR, law, finance, information management, and more to all of the subsidiaries of RAI.

The Benefits Analyst III is responsible for managing multiple aspects of the health and welfare plans including data management, Affordable Care Act requirements, and employee issue resolution. Accountabilities include health and welfare plan administration, vendor management, employee communication, and ensuring the plans and programs are managed in accordance with plan provisions. In addition to the aforementioned, the analyst will be expected to provide assistance and analysis on special projects as needed.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills are essential for this role. The analyst must be able to apply judgment to assess and resolve sensitive issues as well as have the ability to react appropriately in a challenging and changing environment. Strong time management skills are required to manage multiple processes and implementation initiatives. The Benefits Analyst III must also have the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels of the organization as well as retirees. The incumbent must maintain credibility and build partnerships across the organization. The role interacts through written and verbal communications with company employees, retirees, management, peers, and external organizations.


(* Essential Functions)

  • Day to day management of health and welfare vendor billing data including reconciliation, validation, and reporting to finance final invoiced payments for financial reporting

  • Day to day management of health and welfare plans

  • Research and resolve member questions

  • Work with functions across the organization (including other areas of HR) to identify and implement resolutions to issues related to health and welfare

  • Implementation of changes in health and welfare programs

  • Ensure plan compliance with plan document, ERISA and IRS regulations

  • Prepare regulatory filings for ACA employer reporting and PCORI

  • Create and maintain documentation of responsibility processes and results

  • Monitor and reconcile data between HRIS/payroll systems and health & welfare benefits vendors to ensure accuracy across all platforms

  • Effectively manage delegated projects



BS in business related field or equivalent relevant experience


  • 2 - 4 years related work experience with preference in administration of health and welfare plans, finance, accounting, or information technology

  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Ability to manage vendors and deal with difficult situations

  • Ability to interact with employees and retirees questions and deal with difficult situations

  • Demonstrated ability to understand broader picture

  • A self-driven, positive, results-oriented performer who possesses a passion for results, and a clear focus on high quality

  • Strong time management, problem solving, documentation, listening and organizational skills in a deadline driven environment

  • Confidence to ask relevant questions and contribute with constructive suggestions.

Special Skills/Attributes:

  • General understanding of ERISA Health and Welfare Plans desired

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • In-depth understanding and ability to conduct numerical analysis

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and possess the technical aptitude required to understand flow of data through systems as well as system interaction

  • Must be thorough and detail oriented

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and multi-task

  • Must possess a high sense of urgency and work ethic

  • Ability to keep sensitive human resources and benefits information highly confidential

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite – Excel and Word. Advanced/intermediate skills in Excel preferred
