This position is within Reynolds American Services Company—a subsidiary that provides support services, including compliance, HR, law, finance, information management, and more to all of the subsidiaries of RAI.

The Director of Data Science – Policy & Analysis provides strategic leadership, guidance and insight for company through the use of data analysis and modelling.

The individual will create value by identifying appropriate data and and applying comprehensive statistical modeling to create analysis and provide insights into policy trends. The incumbent will build off of current models while also developing new analysis and models. The insights derived from this analysis will be used to inform stakeholders.

The individual will partner with a team to provide clear analytical impacts that enhance or provide new insights.

Position Responsibilities

  • Through robust statistical modeling, analyze and assess policy.

  • Develop new insights and analysis on the impact of policy.

  • Development of short-term and long-term strategies around the Company’s initiatives.

  • Identify and lead statistical analysis of data and databases and to explain significance to others.

  • Partner with key cross-functional stakeholders to inform and assess impact of policy.

  • Lead research efforts of various economic and political issues that guide policy.

  • Monitor policy to identify trends.

  • Fact check statements and materials produced by external sources.

  • Continually evaluate effectiveness of analysis.


  • Minimum BS in business related field, or relevant analytical experience.

  • Graduate degree preferred

Required Skills/Experience

  • Proficiency in analyzing data and formulating insights/conclusions.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop quantitative and qualitative research to support policy positions.

  • High proficiency in Excel.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Ability to translate comprehensive analysis into straightforward messaging.

  • Understanding and experience with government data sources.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand legislative and business issues and seek resolution.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with various functions and stakeholders.

  • Must maintain strong credibility and demonstrate effective leadership.

  • Willing to travel domestically up to 15%.

  • Five or more years of working experience in a related field is required.

  • Familiarity with the political and legislative process
