This position is with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company—the second-largest U.S. tobacco company. The company's brands include Newport, Camel and Pall Mall.

While working under general supervision, the Manufacturing Technician Apprentice(part-time position)will perform corrective and preventive maintenance to electronic control systems essential to high-speed cigarette manufacturing and tobacco processing in an industrial production environment. Responsibilities will include shadowing full time technicians to make electrical repairs in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring machine health and overall equipment effectiveness.

We are seeking students who have completed the second semester toward an Associate’s Degree in one of the following programs:

Electronics Engineering Technology (EET),

Computer Engineering Technology (CET),

Mechatronics

Students will be required to upload college transcript displaying courses completed.

Students will work approximately 20 hours per week on the off shift to accommodate their classroom scheudle

DUTIES:

Assist in the following:

Install, test, calibrate, repair, and modify various types of electrical/electronic controls for high speed cigarette manufacturing and tobacco processing equipment.

Support Allen-Bradley and Siemens and Beckoff PLC systems.

Assist in productivity/technology projects.

Troubleshoot variable frequency and DC motor drive systems.

Install, calibrate and repair high speed camera quality control systems.

Work from various vendor provided schematics.

Use electronic diagnostic equipment common to the discipline.

Troubleshoot to determine root cause of equipment failure and perform corrective maintenance accordingly.

Perform procedures and work assignments in keeping with company policy, safety and Good Manufacturing Practice standards.

Effectively communicate with peers and management.

Perform other duties assigned by management.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must have the minimum scores below:

• Work Keys - Reading for Information @ Level 5 or Workplace Documents @ Level 6

• Work Keys - Applied Mathematics @ Level 6 or Applied Math @ Level 5

• Work Keys - Locating Information @ Level 5 or Graphics Literacy @ Level 4

• Work Keys - Observation @ Level 6 or Workplace Observation @ Level 2

• Work Keys - Applied Technology @ Level 5

• Basic skills in Microsoft Office computer applications

• Willingness to work 1st or 2nd shift.

• Must be 18 years of age or older

This position is an internship assignment that is part-time and based in Winston Salem, NC.
