This position is with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company—the second-largest U.S. tobacco company. The company's brands include Newport, Camel and Pall Mall.

While working under general supervision, the Manufacturing Electronic/Instrumentation Technician performs corrective and preventive maintenance to electrical/electronic control systems essential to high-speed cigarette manufacturing and tobacco processing in an industrial production environment.


The Manufacturing Electronic/Instrumentation Technician makes electrical/electronic repairs in a safe and efficient manner and is responsible for machine health and overall equipment effectiveness.


Install, test, calibrate, repair, and modify various types of electrical/electronic controls for high speed cigarette manufacturing and tobacco processing equipment.

Support Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC systems.

Support Profibus, ControlNet, and Ethernet data communication systems.

Guide productivity/technology projects.

Troubleshoot variable frequency and DC motor drive systems.

Install, calibrate and repair high speed camera quality control systems.

Work from various vendor provided schematics.

Use electronic diagnostic equipment common to the discipline.

Troubleshoot to determine root cause of equipment failure and perform corrective maintenance accordingly.

Operate industrial vehicles, use ladders and powered lifts to heights of 40 feet.

Perform procedures and work assignments in keeping with company policy, safety and Good Manufacturing Practice standards.

Effectively communicate with peers and management.

Perform other duties assigned by management.

Position Qualifications:

A.A.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology or A.A.S. in Mechatronics or A.A.S. in Instrument and Control Automation Technology or A.A.S degree in a related field or military equivalent

Three years’ electronic experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment or process control systems

Compensation: $32.16 per hour
