This position is with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company—the second-largest U.S. tobacco company. The company's brands include Newport, Camel and Pall Mall.


This position is responsible for the end-to-end Procurement process within Indirect Procurement, which includes having buying responsibility for Marketing Materials and Services up to $100K. This may include the sourcing and management of a vast array of categories and commodities for one or more of the RAI operating companies via a service agreement. The Procurement Analyst II will promote a collaborative, client-focused, quality and results-oriented approach to their marketing categories and commodities. The expectation will be to build solid ongoing relationships with both internal business partners across marketing, operations, finance, and legal, as well as external suppliers.


  • Collaborate with client groups to define and communicate item or service specifications and requirements.

  • Plan, manage and coordinate multiple category sourcing projects to ensure the desired business results are achieved based on best total value (quality, delivery, savings, etc.).

  • Analyze quotations for accuracy, completion, contract compliance and make sourcing recommendations.

  • Manage day-to-day supplier interfaces including negotiating/POs/discrepancies/deliveries, etc.

  • Communicate with clients, suppliers, and other Procurement staff to ensure the timely delivery of, and payment for, required materials or services.

  • Support strategic planning and the Procurement process for assigned commodities and services while exercising good business and analytical skills.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain supplier relationships which provide a competitive advantage.

  • Utilizing third party resources, manage the creation and management of contracts, RFx initiatives, eAuctions and project savings in the eProcurement tool and the execution of accompanying purchase orders.

  • Perform benchmark category performance, applying market research and analysis for recommendations to client groups.

  • Perform Spend analysis, category analysis and develop recommendations for issue resolution.

  • Manage special projects and/or assignments as required, using approved guidelines.


Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.


  • Experience negotiating and reviewing statements of work

  • Two years relevant work experience preferred


  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions in a fast paced environment

  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong functional knowledge of computers and information systems
