This position is within Reynolds American Services Company—a subsidiary that provides support services, including compliance, HR, law, finance, information management, and more to all of the subsidiaries of RAI.

Job Summary:

The Scientist, Regulatory Compliance position is responsible for providing key support, including vendor engagement, information integrity, and data management, to facilitate domestic and global product compliance. The individual will establish and maintain business partnerships with vendors, manage the acquisition and security of trade-secret ingredient information, and maintain compliance-related systems. The individual will actively collaborate cross-functionally and externally to ensure project and regulatory compliance timelines.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with cross-functional and global stakeholders to ensure appropriate review, alignment and assessment of product-related information.

  • Prepare, review, execute and maintain Non-disclosure Agreements (NDAs)

  • Provide guidance to external vendors to ensure terms of NDAs

  • Acquire and ensure security of vendor trade secret information

  • Screen vendor trade secret disclosures to ensure information integrity, as required

  • Review, update and maintain trade-secret information within compliance related systems

  • Keep informed of current and new regulations (domestic and international) affecting the industry

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred


  • Tobacco industry experience preferred

  • Knowledge of various tobacco product platforms, with an emphasis on oral products

  • Proficient with computer systems and common regulatory terminology

  • Results-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet business and compliance deadlines

  • Team-oriented, demonstrating strong collaboration skills with business partners

  • Strong adherence to process and protocol

  • Keen attention to detail and problem resolution

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and drive execution with a sense of urgency

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of tobacco-related regulations, stewardship and regulatory compliance processes

  • Experience with tobacco product data management and/or compliance related systems (PDM, STARIS)

Physical Requirements:

Business Travel may be required
