This position is with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company—the second-largest U.S. tobacco company. The company's brands include Newport, Camel and Pall Mall.

The Master Scheduler position is responsible for providing management oversight of the production planning area along with performing the master scheduling activities. The master scheduler has responsibility for the talent development of the production planning employees. The role is responsible for maintaining the master schedule for current year plus two.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates skill development of the production planning area, coaches for high performance and ensures future requirements can be met.

  • Responsible for oversight of all scheduling for finished and semi-finished goods as well as planning of direct materials.

  • Responsible for determining which finished goods are assigned to which work center.

  • Work cross functionally to determine assumptions around output rates, staffing and capacity utilization; to determine long term equipment and staffing needs; and to determine the inventory stocking strategy at the central distribution center.

  • Maintain master data which drives the ERP tool.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of multiple and simultaneous projects that affect the planning area.

  • These may include new brand launches, promotional activities, end of life cycle projects, equipment changes and/or system changes. The master scheduler should be able to communicate project scope and set direction with the production planning team and provide updates across the organization.

  • Lead and/or participate on project teams as well as driving continuous improvement initiatives within the planning group.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 12+ years of relevant work experience, or

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Business, or related field and 9+ years relevant work experience, or

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or

  • Post Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience

Experience:Supply Chain and/or manufacturing experience

Required Skills:

  • Analytical Skills

  • Problem Solving Skills

  • Ability to communicate across, up and down the organization.

  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing equipment, maintenance schedules and changeovers

  • End to end supply chain knowledge from procurement of direct materials, production of semi-finished and finished goods to distribution of the finished goods.

Preferred Skills:

ERP system skillset preferably SAP
