ReSEARCH & dEVELOPMENT – Sr. Technician
SCOPE:
R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company is seeking a research and development Sr. Technician to support the development of products consistent with RJRT’s vision of transforming tobacco and its strategic market objectives, growth, innovation, and next generation products platforms.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Position reports to the Senior Manager, Next Generation Products and performs work focused on product research and development. The senior technician will work on novel, innovative traditional and non-traditional tobacco research programs and projects requiring creative thinking, some independent tasks, collecting, compiling and analysis of analytical data and interaction with scientists, product developers, toxicologists, vendors, and research contractors.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with scientist to design and develop product concepts, formulations, configurations in laboratory and pilot plant.
Design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret data to make sound technical recommendations.
Participate as an active member of cross-functional project teams.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Engineering Technology or other science related disciplines; or 2+ years of relevant tobacco industry experience
Knowledge/Experience:
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office software including Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
Special Skills/Attributes:
Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and time management skills
Strong communication skills (oral and written)
The ability and interest to work in laboratory, pilot plant and/or manufacturing scale environments
Knowledgeable of lab safety
Strong work ethic, self-motivated, drive for results
Flexible and adaptable to change
Willing to grow within this specific role
